When two lines are crossed by another line (called the Transversal): AlternateInterior Angles are a pair of angles on the inner side of each of those two lines but on opposite sides of the transversal. In this example, these are two pairs of Alternate Interior Angles: c and f.

Alternate angles are those angles that are on opposite sides of a line or a line segment crossed by other two parallel lines or line segments.
They can be of two types:
1. Alternate Interior Angles
2. Alternate Exterior Angles
Figure 1 shows a pair of alternate interior angles while figure 2 a pair of alternate exterior angles.
