Benzene is highly unsaturated but in spite of this, benzene does not yield to addition reactions due to the fact that in benzene ring there are double bonds in every carbon atom. It is basically due to the pi electrons not being located properly. Due to this aspect, the Carbon - Hydrogen bond evolves stronger that may not be broken very easily.It is also the reason why benzene prefers electrophilic substitution reaction instead of addition reaction.
