It leads to a decrease in the residual forces on the surface of the adsorbent. This causes a decrease in the surface energy of the adsorbent. Therefore even if ΔS is negative, but ΔH is also negative to make ΔG negative. So, adsorption is a spontaneous process accompanied by release in energy and decrease in entropy
