Answer-

This line is given from the chapter "Two gentlemens of Verona" written by A.J. Cronin. This story shows the life of two young boys who were struggling to save their sister's life.

Nicola and Jacopo had  a sister who had tuberculosis of spine and was hence hospitalised. To meet the expenses of hospital they have to work as  tourist guides, sell newspaper and also clean shoes.

Their determined hope and faith made author to refer them as gentlemen.

Hey mate...........

here is ur answer........

Although nicola and jacopo were two young boys ,, the author referred to them as gentlemen because they were too intelligent and experienced then their age .

They were highly devoted to their work and were very hard working .
They worked as Shoeshine boys , sold newspapers , sold strawberrys and were always there for the help of the author whether it be the american ciggarates or the seats of the opera...They also took care of their sister who was suffering from tb of spine.

Hope it helps♥♥♥
