Although rain water is considered as Purest form of water but when. It is tested it is found to show deflection in compass needle

The composition of rain water (and water in general) is H2O. This H2O) is comprised of H+ and OH- ions. Many of the ions are free to move in the rainwater (they dissociate) and hence they can carry the electric charge therefore conducting electricity.
