Although the size of sulphur is smaller than phosphorous but first ionisation enthalpy
of phosphorous is more than sulphur. Why?

Answer:

Phosphorus has more ionisation than sulphur because Phosphorus has half filled P sub shell in its valence shells that gives extra ability and hence more energy is required to remove electrons please follow me
