Although, theoretically an earthquake of any magnitudes is possible, keeping in view the practical limitations of rocks to store energy before rupture, and also based in actual observations of the past earthquakes, the maximum probable magnitude of an earthquake that can occur anywhere in the world is not likely to exceed

The magnitude of earth qucak doesn't vary so much because...
the rocks inside the earth get disturb only when the excess of energy store inside earth..At a specific time when the energy is realesed the earthquake happened... but due to the earth rocks can't held so much energy that time soo he realesd it...if the earthquake doesn't happen to many years(100+ years) then may a big magnitude earthquake take place..
I HOOE YOUR DOUBTS CLEAR
