alumina is dissolved in molten cryolite for electrolysis to obtain aluminium metal. give reason

Cryolite lowers the fusion temperature from 2050 degree C to 950 dgree C and enhance conductivity as pure alumina is also non conductor of electricity. And cryolite also act as a solvent for the electrolytic mixture
