Hey Mate !!

Here is Answer for your Query

Aluminium is reactive only when a freshly scrached surface is exposed to atmosphere.

★ But instantaneously , the freshly scrached surface gets oxidised & Al2O3 oxide layer is formed which covers the whole surface.

★ This Al2O3 layer formed is adherent , impervious & tenacious with the base metal- preventing further oxidation.

★ Further Al2O3 layer is not toxic to food items, medicines, chacolates or cigerettes. Hence aluminium foil is used for packaging the food items .

Heya!❤️

Aluminum is quite reactive, but when it is kept in air or oxygen for some time, the upper surface gets converted into its oxide called aluminum oxide, which gets deposited as a thin coating on the surface of the metal. This aluminium oxide is passive which means that it is not reactive. Therefore, this metal is used for packing food articles which do not get spoiled in the foil.

Hope this helps
