Aluminium turns dull and does not rust.
4Al + 3O2 → 2Al2O3

Iron rusts, turns reddish brown when it comes in contact with moist air. Rust is brittle and falls of exposing a fresh layer of iron.

Fe + H2O + O2 → Fe2O3.xH20
