Aluminium is highly reactive but it is used to make utensils because it react with oxygen and form thin layer of aluminium oxide which further prevent it from reaction.

Because aluminium formed oxide layer which prevent from reaction and its also a good conductor which helps in quick heat(i.e thermal conductivity is more) for cooking.
