Answer :

When aluminium reacts with oxygen gas to form Aluminium oxide as a salt. It is basic in nature. We know that all metal oxides are basic in nature.

Balanced Chemical Reaction :

4Al(s) + 3O2(g) ------> 2Al2O3(s)

Note :

  1. Four atoms of aluminium in the reactant side is equal to the four atoms of aluminium in the product side.
  2. Six atoms of oxygen in the reactant side is equal to the six atoms of oxygen in the product side
