When aluminium reacts with oxygen gas to form Aluminium oxide as a salt. It is basic in nature. We know that all metal oxides are basic in nature.
Balanced Chemical Reaction :
4Al(s) + 3O2(g) ------> 2Al2O3(s)
Note :
- Four atoms of aluminium in the reactant side is equal to the four atoms of aluminium in the product side.
- Six atoms of oxygen in the reactant side is equal to the six atoms of oxygen in the product side
