Al can donate 3 electrons from its outermost shell so it can aquire +3 charge on it and oxygen can accept pair of electrons so it can acquire -2 charge on it. When it reacts with Al it forms aluminium oxide AL2O3 in which 3 oxygen atom gets 6 electrons from 2 atom of Al. Thus it forms aluminium oxide
