Solution :-

Amal 50m runs time = Bimal 45 m runs time.

• Amal is faster than bimal .

So,

→ Ratio of speed of Amal : Bimal = 50 : 45 = 10 : 9 . { when time is constant, then speed is directly proportional to distance.}

Let us assume that, speed of amal and bimal is 10x m / min. and 9x m/min.

then,

→ in first 5 minutes Bimal covers distance = speed * time = 9x * 5 = 45x m.

and,

→ usual speed of both = (10x - 9x) = x m/min..{ same direction. }

Therefore,

→ Time taken by Amal to level with Bimal = (Distance / usual speed) = 45x / x = 45 minutes. (Ans.)

Hence, Amal takes 45 minutes to level with Bimal .
