Aman brought two packets of juice-Apple juice and Orange juice from the market. His friends, Shabnam and Suraj, visited his home at the same time. So, Aman decided to share the juice equally with his friends. He brought three colored glasses--Green, Blue, and Yellow to serve juice. Suraj said he will only drink apple juice but not orange juice. Shabnam said she would like to take his share of orange juice on her glass.
How many parts of orange juice should be poured in green and blue glasses for Aman and Shabnam?

Aman bought two packets of orange and apple juice.

It was to be divided equally between him, and his two friends Suraj and Shabnam.

Let the packet of orange juice be 1 (whole)

And the packet of apple juice be also 1 (whole)

[Why 1 whole ?

Because he had bought 1 packet each]

Both the juices were to be shared equally.

So, no. of friends = 3

Parts got by each (both the juices separately)

= 1 ÷ 3

= 1/3

Now, Suraj doesn't drink orange juice, and thus his share (i.e., 1/3) is taken up by Shabnam.

Now, Sabnam gets

1/3 + 1/3 = 2/3 parts of the hole orange juice on her glass.

There is no disturbance in Aman's glass, so he takes 1/3 of the whole orange juice.

Hence, Aman's glass i.e., Green glass gets 1/3 of the orange juice and Shabnan's glass i.e., Blue glass gets 2/3 of the orange juice. (Ans)
