(i)       Phenole is polar but Phenole have also a aromatic non polar group so  Phenole is partially soluble

(ii)      Toluene is a non polar compound so that it is insoluble in water.

(iii)    Formic acid is also a hydrogen bonded polar compound so that is highly soluble

(iv)     Ethylene glycol is also a hydrogen bonds polar compound so that it is with highly soluble in water.

(v)      chloroform is a non polar compound so that it is insoluble in water.

(vi)     Pentanol is a polar compound but Partially soluble because it has a large hydrocarbon chain which is non-polar.

Hey !!

PHENOL

Partially soluble as it has non-polar C₆H₅ group and polar ----OH group which can form hydrogen bond with water.

TOLUENE

Insoluble as toluene is non-polar while water is polar

FORMIC ACID

Highly soluble as formic acid can form hydrogen bonds with water.

ETHYLENE GLYCOL

Highly soluble as ethylene glycol can form hydrogen bonds with water.

CHLOROFORM

Insoluble as chloroform despite its polarity, cannot form hydrogen bonds with water.

PENTANOL

Partially soluble as ----OH group is polar but the bulky C₅H₁₁ part is non-polar.
