Aman has a compass with a magnetic needle which, he observes, correctly points north-south. He leaves the compass on his table at home in the morning and leaves for school. After returning, he performs an experiment with an electric circuit with the compass close to it. He switches the current in the circuit on and notices that the needle doesn't point north-south correctly.

Which of the following can be a reason for this observation?

A) The needle becomes an electromagnet due to the current in the circuit.
B ) The current in the circuit produces a magnetic field which deflects the magnet.

C ) Due to the rotation of the Earth from morning to evening, the needle changes its direction.
D) The tidal forces due to the moon are stronger in the evening which cause the needle to deflect towards it.

Answer:

The answer is B because the magnetic field made by the current is deflecting the compass's magnet
