  • Let present age of son be M.

Aman's age is three times his son's age.

  • Present age of Aman = 3M

10 years ago

  • Age of son = M - 10

  • Age of Aman = 3M - 10

Ten years ago he (Aman) was five times his son' s age.

A.T.Q.

=> 5(M - 10) = 3M - 10

=> 5M - 50 = 3M - 10

=> 5M - 3M = - 10 + 50

=> 2M = 40

=> M = 20

____________________________

Present age of son = M = 20 years

Present age of Aman = 3M = 3(20) = 60 years

✡ Verification :

From above calculations we get M = 20

Put value of M in this equation :

5(M - 10) = 3M - 10

→ 5M - 50 = 3M - 10

→ 2M = 40

→ 2(20) = 40

→ 40 = 40

Step-by-step explanation:

Let aman's son's age be x

Then aman's age is 3x

Ten years ago

His son's age =x-10

Amans age = 3x-10

But acc. To question Amans age ten years ago

5(x-10)

Therefore

3x-10=5(x-10)

3x-10=5x-50

50-10=5x-3x

40=2x

X=20

Therefore his sons present age =20yrs

Amans present age = 3x

=60yrs
