Answer:
Explanation:
Let Aman's present age = x years
Let his son's present age = y years
Age of Aman, 10 years ago = x-10
Age if his son, 10 years ago = y-1
Their present age
A.T.Q
x = 3y (Aman's age is three times his son's age.) - (i)
x-10 = 5(y-10) [Ten years ago he was five times his son's age] -(ii)
x = 3y -(i) x-10= 5(y-10) -(ii)
As from (i) we know that value of x is 3y
By using Substitution method
Put value of x (eq. i) in eq. (ii)
x-10 = 5(y-10)
x-10 = 5y-50
3y-10 = 5y-50 (: x = 3y)
3y-5y = -50+10
-2y = -40
So, y = 20 which means the age of son is 20 years
Now, put the value of 'y' in eq. (i)
x = 3y
x = 3(20)
x = 60
The age of Aman is 60 years
