Answer:

Amanda's attitude is typical behavior of a teenage boy/girl who doesn't want any control over their lives and desires freedom. The parents of such age group children must also understand that controlling and having a dominant behavior over children would not solve the problem. In fact, it could even worsen the problem because of too much control and dominance over children they might have suicidal feelings or might run away from their house.

The poem 'Amanda' is about a child who is tired of excessive parental control. Her parents nag her constantly, telling her what to do and what not to do. This takes a toll on her and she wishes to lead a free life, a life in which she is the master of her choices.

She is constantly lost in her daydreams, envisioning a life in which she is a mermaid, who is at the sea, free to go wherever she wants; she dreams of a time where she is an orphan, roaming around the streets, going where her feet take her, careless and free; she dreams of a world where is in a tower, far away from human habitation, and she is sure that she does not want to leave the place, unlike Rapunzel, who wished to be saved

Her daydreams and wishes show that she is unhappy and wishes to be free
