Let money held by Amanda, Tom and Dale be a,t and d respectively.

a + t + d = 142

a - t = 8

d = 4a

Now, from equation 2

 t = a - 8

Using values of t and d in 1st equation

a + a - 8 + 4a = 142

6a = 150

a = 25

Using value of a in 2nd equation

25 - t = 8

t = 17

Using value of a in 3rd equation

d = 4 \times 25

d = 100

Therefore,

Amanda has 25$

Tom has 17$

Dale has 100$
