Amanda wants to buy books for tenth grade students. Each book costs $4, and she wants to spend less than $1000. Write an inequality that represents the number of books she can purchase with $1000. Here, x represents the number of books.

Well by the question it is clear that she cannot buy more than 249 books as the question clearly states that she wants to spend less than $1000

  • Therefore number of affordable in less than $1000

=249

The inequality should be

4x<1000[where x is the no. of books]

So your answer is

4x<1000(never write unit in an equation)
