Amar has 18 coins in his purse consisting of one rupee and two rupee coins. The total amount with him is 24. Find the number of one rupee coins with him.

Answer:Let the number of 2 rupee coins be x

The number of 1 rupee coins will be 3x

The total value is Rs 50

(1) 3x + (2)x = 50

3x + 2x = 50

5x = 50

x = 10

Number of 2 rupee = x = 10

Number of 1 rupee = 3x = 3(10) = 30

Answer: There are 30 1-rupee and 10 2-rupee coins
