Correct Question :- Amelia wanted to redeem a voucher. She had only 3/5 of the total number of points needed. After she earned another 50 points, she still needed 3/10 of the total number of points. How many points did Amelia need to redeem the voucher ?

Solution :-

Let us assume that, total points needed to get the voucher is x .

Given that, She had only 3/5 of the total number of points needed.

So,

Points she had = (3/5) of x = (3x/5) .

Now, she earned another 50 points .

So,

Total points she has after that = [(3x/5) + 50]

Now, it has been said that, she still needed 3/10 of the total number of points to redeem the voucher..

So,

Points she needed now = (3/10) of x = (3x/10) .

A/q,

[(3x/5) + 50] + (3x/10) = x

→ [(3x + 250)/5] + (3x/10) = x

→ [2(3x + 250) + 3x] / 10 = x

→ 6x + 500 + 3x = 10x

→ 9x + 500 = 10x

→ 10x - 9x = 500

→ x = 500 .

Therefore,

Points Amelia needed now to redeem the voucher = (3/10) of 500 = (3 * 500)/10 = 150 Points (Ans.)

Hence, Amelia needed 150 points to redeem the voucher .

Answer:1-3/5 = 5/5-3/5= 2/5

2/5-3/10 = 4/10-3/10=1/10

Total paint = 50:1/10= 50x10/1=500
