The Ranching on the plains of the American West lead to drastic consequences :

  1. The ranching lead to the bordering of the free plains which were fertile and mostly used by the poor peasants.
  2. This lead to an increased production of wheat by the farmers due to rich fertility of the soil.
  3. Degradation of soil fertility occurred.
  4. The ranching lead to a severe drought during the early twentieth century and caused gust storms across the land.
  5. Many people and animals lost their lives in the natural disasters.

   6. Thus, ranching the plains was a disadvantage for the American West.
