Amina thinks of a number and subtracts 5/2 from it . She multiplies the result by 8 , the answer is 3 . Find the number .

Solution :

Let the required number be x .

Now ,

According to the question , if 5/2 is subtracted form the number and then multiplied by 8 then resultant is 3 .

Thus ,

=> (x - 5/2) × 8 = 3

=> 8x - (5/2)×8 = 3

=> 8x - 5×4 = 3

=> 8x - 20 = 3

=> 8x = 3 + 20

Question 2 :

Find n if n/2 - 3n/4 + 5n/6 = 21 .

Solution :

We have ;

=> n/2 - 3n/4 + 5n/6 = 21

=> (6n - 9n + 10n) / 12 = 21
