let the number be x

she subtracts 5/2 from x

thus

x-5/2

she multiplies result with 8

( x- 5/2) ×8

the result is 3 times the original number x

3x

thus

(x- 5/2) × 8= 3x

8x- 20= 3x

8x -3x= 20

5x= 20

x=4

Let the number she thought be x

ATQ ,she subtract the 5/2 from the no.= x-5/2

She multiply the result by 8 =8(x-5/2)

Solution:-

3x = 8(x-5/2)

3x=8x -20

20=5x

x=4

So, the number she thought is 4.
