Let the number of books brought be x.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

1800/x + 10 = 1800/x - 30

➵ 1800 [1/x - 1/x + 10] = 30

➵ 1/x - 1/x + 10 = 1/60

➵ x + 10 - x/x (x + 10) = 1/60

➵ 600 = x² + 10x

➵ x² + 10x - 600 = 0

➵ (x + 30) (x - 20) = 0

➵ x = -30 or x = 20

Since number of books cannot be negative, so x is 20.

Therefore,

  • Hence, the number of books brought is 20.
