Amit conducted the following experiment. A plant was destarched by keeping it in a
dark cupboard for 48 hours. Two identical green leaves on the plant were selected.
Petroleum jelly was smeared on both the top and the bottom sides of one leaf. Nothing
was applied on the other leaf. The plant was then allowed to remain in this condition for
a few hours. The leaves were then removed and iodine test for starch was conducted on
it.
