Answer:

6 Apples he can buy

Step-by-step explanation:

Amit goes to market with certain amount in his pocket with which he can buy 50 apples and 40 oranges.He want to retain 10%of the amount for taxi fare and hence buys 20 oranges. How many apples can amit purchase with the balance amount?

Let say 1 Apple cost = Rs A

& 1 Orange cost = Rs B

Total amount Amit Has = 50A + 40B

He saves 10% = (10/100)(50A + 40B)  = 5A + 4B

Ne bought 40-20 = 20 Oranges less

20 Oranges Cost = 20B

5A + 4B = 20B

=> 5A = 16B

with 16 Oranges price he can buy   5 Apples

with 1 Orange price he can buy = 5/16 Apples

with 20 Oranges price he can buy   = (5/16) * 20 = 25/4  = 6.25

6 Apples he can buy
