NEW DELHI: There is a distinct buzz in Sonipat’s Nahri village these days. The village after all has a new wrestling icon - Ravi Dahiya who is going to represent India at the Tokyo Olympics next year. The 20-year-old won a bronze medal at the 2019 World Wrestling Championships in Tajikistan in the freestyle 57 kg category recently to book an Olympic berth.
Ravi is not the first wrestler of prominence Nahri has produced. Before Ravi, it was Amit Dahiya who made Nahri famous.
