Amit is two years older than bhanu who is twice as old as chandra. if the total of the ages of amit, bhanu and chandra be 27, then how old is bhanu? 1 point

Let,

chandra's age be x years
Bhanu's age be 2x years
Amit's age be (2x+2) years
________________

Given that the sum of ages of amit, bhanu and Chandra is 27.

Then, According to the given information,

x +2x +2x +2 = 27

5x +2 =27

5x = 27-2

5x = 25

x =25/5

x =5
___________

Bhanu's age is 2x = 2×x =2×5 =10

Bhanu's age = 10 years

Here, we will express the condition expressed in the problem in mathematical form as follows;

Let us assume the age of Amit is 'a', the age of Bhanu is 'b', and the age of Chandra is 'c'.

Now, according to the given conditions;

a = (b + 2)                                     ----------------- (2)

b = 2c                                           ----------------- (1)

Substituting (2) in (1), we get;

∴ a = (2c + 2)                               ------------------- (3)

Now, We have given that the total of their ages is equal to 27.

i.e., a + b + c = 27

⇒ (2c + 2) + 2c + c = 27               ------------------ From (1), (2), and (3)

⇒  5c + 2 = 27

⇒  5c = 27 - 2

⇒  5c = 25

⇒  c = 5

Thus, the age of Amit is (2c + 2) = 12 years.

The age of Bhanu is 2c = 10 years.

The age of Chandra is c = 5 years.

Therefore, Bhanu is 10 years old.
