Amit was very fond of flying kites; one day he was standing one of the wall of his house and flying a kite. His mother saw him standing on the edge of the roof precariously. She shouted at him, “Hey Amit! What are you doing? Don’t you see where you are standing? If you just take one more step backward, you will fall and injure yourself! You know very well we have yet to have the railings on the roof installed! If you don’t come down, I am sending your father upstairs; he will forcibly bring you down!”
Then the mother became engrossed in the household chores! She forgot to send her husband upstairs to bring Amit down. The father had not even the slightest idea that Amit was flying kites on the roof in unsafe conditions. He was busy enjoying the match.
After sometime, both the father and mother were startled by a heavy thud followed by terrifying screams. As they rushed to the vent from where the noise had issued, they were petrified to see Amit lying unconscious with blood oozing out of his head. Amit had fallen down the vent flying kites. He had forgotten there was a vent at the back of the roof. Amit’s father picked him up and ran to the hospital.
After a month’s treatment in the Neurological department in the hospital, Amit was able to come out of the danger. His parents vowed never ever to let him fly kites on roof alone.

Luckily where he fell, there was a dense mango tree and instead of dashing down on the floor, he got stuck among the branches of the mango tree. There ran a panic among all his friends who were flying kite with him and one of them ran to his grandmother to break the news.
When Amit's grandmother and mother heard about it, they came out in the courtyard and found him almost lying within the web of branches of the tree. As his mom shouted out his name, he groaned in response. She didn't know how to climb a tree and there was no one in the house whom she could call for the task. Ultimately, she went to her neighbor Mr. Sharma whose son Mrinal was in college and he was at home due to vacation. Mrinal ran to the courtyard where Amit was stuck in the branches of the mango tree and was in a state of shock.
Mrinal quickly climbed the tree, put Amit on his shoulder and slowly descended safely. He lay Amit down who gazed at him, as if not able to understand what was happening. Both his mother and grandmother were in tears. They thanked the mango tree from the core of their hearts and thought what would have happened if the tree were not there. Amit had got only a few scratches on his arms and legs which healed in a week's time. But Amit, from that very day, swore that he will never stand on the wall while flying kites.
