Given :

Part of savings spent on furniture : ⅕

Cost of savings spent on furniture : 44000

To find :

The original savings of Amit.

Solution :

To find the total savings of Amit, first we should find the part of the savings spent on buying TV

Part of money spent on TV :

{\sf \dashrightarrow 1 - \dfrac{1}{5}}

{\sf \dashrightarrow \dfrac{1 \times 5}{1 \times 5} - \dfrac{1}{5}}

{\sf \dashrightarrow \dfrac{5}{5} - \dfrac{1}{5}}

{\sf \dashrightarrow \dfrac{5 - 1}{5} =  \dfrac{4}{5}}

Now, we'll find the total savings of Amit.

Total savings of Amit :

{\sf \dashrightarrow \dfrac{4}{5} \: of \: x = 44000}

{\sf \dashrightarrow x = \dfrac{44000 \times 5}{4}}

{\sf \dashrightarrow x = \dfrac{220000}{4}}

{\sf \dashrightarrow x = \cancel \dfrac{220000}{4} = 55000}

Hence, the total savings of Amit is ₹55000.
