Let the salary before increment be x

Therefore,

Increment = 20% of x

So,

=>20/100 × x

=>x/5

Given that,

If his new salary is Rs. 30600

Then,

The new salary = x + x/5 [ the increment into he salary]

6x/5 = 30600

6x = 30600 × 5

x = 30600×5/6

x = 25,500

let the before salary be x
taking 30600=120%[as the old salary be 100%]

eq

120x = 30600 \times 100 \\  x = 30600 \times 100 \div 120
x=25500
