Let Amit's old salary be X Rs.
20% increment on salary will be = X × 20/100 Rs.
According to the given condition,
New salary = old salary + 20 % increment
I.e. 30600 = X + (X × 20/100)
30600 = X + X/5
30600 = 6X/5
Transposing 5 to Left
30600 × 5 = 6X
153000 = 6X
transposing 6 to left
153000/6 = X
25500 = X
Hence Amit's old salary = 25500 Rs.
