Amit went to the market to buy some Diwali gifts for his family members.
He had some Rs 10 coins, some Rs 100 notes and some Rs 500 notes in
his wallet. The number of Rs 100 notes is three times the number of Rs
10 coins. Also, the number of Rs 500 notes is five more than the number
of Rs 100 notes. The total amount paid by Amit is Rs 11550, which is the
exact amount he had in his wallet. Find the number of Rs 10 coins he had

Answer:

number of Rs 100 notes = 3 times of 10 coins

number of Rs 500 notes = 5 times of 100 notes

total amount paid by amit = 11550

total amount in wallet = 11550+3*10+5*100

11550+530

12080

remained money in wallet = 12080-11550 = 530.

Given: The number of Rs 100 notes is three times the number of Rs 10 coins. The number of Rs 500 notes is five more than the number of Rs 100 notes.

The total amount paid by Amit is Rs 11550.

To find: The number of Rs 10 coins he had in his wallet

Solution: Let the number of Rs 10 coins be x.

Therefore, the number of Rs 100 notes = 3x.

And the number of Rs 500 notes = 3x + 5.

Now according to the question,

x × 10 + 3x × 100 + (3x + 5)×500 = 11550

⇒ 10x + 300x + 1500x + 2500 = 11550

⇒ 1810x = 11550 - 2500

⇒ x = 9050/1810

⇒ x = 5

Hence, the number of Rs 10 coins he had in his wallet = 5.
