Question

Amita plans to cover her kitchen's floor with Square tiles,each measuring 4 cm × 4 cm.The rectangular floor measures 2 m × 4 m.How many tiles can cover the surface of the floor completely ?

Given:-

A kitchen floor measuring 2 m × 4 m Each tile measuring 4 cm × 4 cm

To Find:-

  • How many tiles can cover the floor ?

Operation:-

Finding area of the floor and tiles.

Reason:-

Tiles have to cover the surface of the floor.

Let's Solve,

Number of tiles = (Area of the floor ÷ Area of one tile)

Number of tiles covering the floor = (200 × 400) ÷ (4 × 4) = 80000 ÷ 16 = 5000 tiles.

Required Answer

 {\underline{ \boxed{ \large{ \bf{ \purple{5000 \: tiles}}}}}}

Note: Since the dimensions of the floor are in cm and those of the tile are in m,we will convert the dimensions of the floor into cm.
