Ammonia is dried by using quick lime. so your answer is option no d.

Calcium oxide, or the other name generally used is quicklime is widely used for drying purposes

for example to dry ammonium gas.

the best reason is that as it is soluble in water so it rapidly dries it . but calcium chloride is not used but it produce ammoniates in mixture.

hope so this will help you :)

The correct answer is (d) quick lime.

Ammonia gas is lighter than air and highly soluble in water, hence, it cannot be collected over it. So, it is dried over quicklime (CaO).

CaO is a basic agent and Ammonia is also basic in nature. So, there is no chance of any reaction inbetween them when they come in contact. CaO is a very good dehydarting agent so it is used.
