Ammonium chloride is assayed by indirect assay method. The sample is dissolved in water and treated with previously neutralised formaldehyde solution. (Methyleneimine is formed which polymerises to form Hexamine). This results in the quantitative liberation of HCl equivalent to NH4Cl.
