Among 200000 tablets in a batch, 1500 are known to be flawed, containing specks of

grease; 1260 are discolored and 900 have chipped edges. 400 tablets are both chipped and

specked. Find the probability of drawing a specked or chipped tablet.​

To Find :  the probability of drawing a specked or chipped tablet.​

Solution:

specked  = 1500

Discolored = 1260

Chipped edges  = 900

both chipped and specked = 400

specked or chipped tablet. =  specked  + Chipped  - both chipped and specked

= 1500 + 900 - 400

= 2000

probability of drawing a specked or chipped tablet.​ = 2000/200000

= 1/100

= 0.01

0.01  or 1 % is the probability  of  drawing a specked or chipped tablet.​
