The resistivity at 20°C of copper bronze and nichrome is given below:
Copper - 1.7 x 10⁻⁸ Ωm
Bronze - 2.4 x 10⁻⁷ Ωm
Nichrome - 1.1 x 10⁻⁶ Ωm
Hence we can see the copper offers least resistance to current. we know that,
current , I = voltage/resistance
hence copper will carry the highest current for a given voltage.
Hence among copper, bronze and nichrome , COPPER is best suited for transmission lines.
