Answer:

Less congestion = faster reaction. Due to ease of backside attack first compound in option (a), (c) and (d) undergoes SN2 faster. In case of option (b), iodide is better leaving group therefore iodobutane undergoes faster SN2 than chlorobutane.

Iodobutane undergoes SN2 reaction faster than chlorobutane.

- Both iodobutane and chlorobutane are primary alkyl halides.

- But iodine is a better leaving group as compared to chlorine.

- Due to its large size, it will be released at a faster rate in the presence of an incoming nucleophile.

- Chlorine, on the other hand, will be released at a comparatively slower rate.

- Hence, iodobutane undergoes SN2 reaction faster than chlorobutane.
