Chymosin which also known as Rennin  is produced in the stomach of young mammals. This enzyme helps in the digestion of mother's milk in young mammals.

This enzymes is produced in abundance at the time of birth. It plays a vital role in coagulation and curdling of milk. Curdling of milk helps in the digestion of milk proteins in the stomach. The young mammals fails to benefit from the milk proteins incase it is   removed in its undigested form from the stomach. On the other hand coagulation of milk  by rennin helps it to stay for a longer period in the stomach.
