Among the second period elements the actual ionization enthalpies are in the order Li < B < Be < C < O < N < Fe < Ne.
Explain why
i) Be has higher ΔiH than B
ii) O has lower ΔiH than N and F ?

Explanation:

the first ionization enthalpy of beryllium is greater than a)boron because beryllium has more stable complete electronic configuration (1s²2s²) so it require more energy to remove the first electron from it whereas boron ha electronic configuration of ( 1s²2s²2p¹) which need lower energy.
