We have to find out the gases ( SO2, NH3 , CH4 and N2) which have minimum and maximum adsorption.

solution : We know, higher the critical temperature of a gas, higher the tendency of liquefaction and hence, higher the the Van Dar Waals force of attraction between them. this means, gas adsorps easier.

so, the adsorption of gases is directly proportional to its critical temperature (temperature at which gas is liquefied).

we know, Critical temperature of SO2 is highest than among them (NH3, CH4 and N2) so it has the maximum adsorption.

and N2 has minimum adsorption because its critical temperature is the least among them.

Therefore minimum adsorption = N2 and maximum adsorption = SO2.
