the tertiary level organism have usually the least energy , while the producers have the most.

Producers have maximum energy because they absorb 1 per cent of energy from sunlight

On getting eaten by Herbivores , herbivores get only 10 percent of total energy of producers and remaining is lost as heat

when secondary consumer eats herbivore again they get only 10 per cent energy of herbivore and rest is lost as heat

successively on getting consumed by tertiary 10 per cent energy of secondary consumer is got which is very low in nature

This is the reason why food chains are usually restricted to 3 or 4 trophic levels
