Answer:

largest angke = x

smallest angle = y

supplementary angle = 180

x= y+40

x+y = 180

(y+40) +y = 180

2y + 40 =180

2y=140

y=140/2 = 70 degree

x+y=180

x+70=180

x= 180-70 = 110

Answer:

Sum of supplementary angles= 180°

Measure of smaller angle= x°

Measure of larger angle= (x+40)°

⇒ x°+(x+40)°= 180°

= 2x+40°= 180°

= 2x= 180°- 40°

= 2x= 140°

= x°= 140°/2

= x°= 70°

Smaller angle= 70°

Larger angle= (x+40)°

= (70+40)°

= 110°

VERIFY:

70°+110°= 180°

180°= 180°

LHS= RHS

Hence, verified
