When 0.5 mole of HCl is added to 0.3 moles of NaOH, then the limiting factor here is NaOH.

              HCl + NaOH = NaCl + H2O

Moles of HCl and NaOH decomposed should be equal to number of moles of H2O. Moles of H2O formed here is 0.3.

When 1 mole of H2O is formed the amount of heat released is equal to  57.1 KJ. If 0.3 moles of H2O is formed, then

                     57.1 X 0.3  is the calculation

                         = 17.14 KJ
