Answer:

Sunlight falls almost vertically on the equator, while it falls at slanting angle on the poles. Due to this, amount of insolation decreases from equator towards poles.

Answer:equatorial regions receive direct rays of sun throughout the year unlike polar regions which receve slanting rays of sun. Also sun's rays have to travel longer distance to poles that's why the loses most of their heat to the atmosphere.
